For 35 years, the Wynford Team has held a Christmas Luncheon to celebrate our accomplishments and to bring the entire Wynford family together. This year we traded in the buffet lunch and round tables, for at home kitchens and laptop screens.
We took the party online! A chef from Lazy Gourmet, walked the team through a tasty holiday recipe on Zoom, and we enjoyed a virtual meal together.
The holiday theme this year was “local”. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of supporting those around us. As Wynford is a local, family owned and operated company, with deep roots in the lower mainland, we see first-hand the impact of COVID-19 on the community and more specifically the communities we manage.
From the Zoom cooking class and appreciation gifts for staff, to the charities and family sponsorship, everything this year was Local.
We were proud to add a new local charity to our annual contributions to the Union Gospel Mission and Covenant House; that charity was the I Dream Library. I Dream Library connects students, caregivers, educators and organizations with intersectional literature that supports childhood mental wellness. They believe accessible BIPOC 2SLGBTQQIA+ representation in classrooms and other public spaces is a basic human right. We were proud to support this cause.
Lastly, Wynford was fortunate enough to be matched with a sponsorship Family through the Crabtree Corner. An organization with a range of programs and services to help marginalized women and families living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside feel healthier, more connected, and empowered to make positive choices.
